The children explored their ‘Winter’ learning through ice exploration. We discussed the freezing and melting process of the natural elements, and explored scientific vocabulary.
The children practised precision throwing, using under arm techniques. They then read a mixture of cvc, cvcc and red high frequency words.
The children embedded their 2D shape knowledge outdoors. They used them to chalk pictures onto the playground floor, focusing on properties of the shapes for the images. Children also ‘dug’ for shapes in the construction pebbles.
Children continued to work on our ‘part, part, whole’ methods for composition of number. They also used our ten frames for counting out amounts. They used the abstract digit cards as well to identify formal numbers.
Children used their gross motor skills to have a go at our outer space, obstacle course.
