Design Technology

I am Miss Ryalls and I co-ordinate Design and Technology.

D&T is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject which requires resourcefulness and imagination. It draws upon a variety of subject knowledge and skills from across the curriculum such as Maths, Science, History, computing and Art. Children learn vital life skills though the teaching of Design and Technology as they learn to take risks, be reflective, innovate, enterprise and be resilient.

Through the teaching of Design and Technology , we encourage our children to use their creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. The projects we give the children develop their skills and knowledge in design, structures, mechanisms, electrical control and a range of materials, including food.

Whichever context and whatever skills the children are using in their projects we always work within the 'design, make, evaluate' structure so children are learning how to develop, plan and communicate ideas; work with

tools, equipment, materials and components; evaluate processes and products.

Below you will find documents detailing the coverage of D&T for each year group.
