Novel Study
This term, we are studying the novel 'Trash' by Andy Mulligan. We had a strange start to the term when we spent a lesson smelling rubbish, which helped us to put ourselves in the shoes of the main characters, Raphael, Gardo and Rat, who work in terrible conditions at the dumpsite. This led to some fabulous creative writing to describe the setting of the story. We experienced what it was like to have to search through trash to make a living and realised that it would be exhausting to do this every day.
In the story, the boys find a bag containing some mysterious items, including a key to a locker at the train station. We took on the roles of the boys, the Police and the station kids and thought about how they would interact with each other at the station, while we went on a hunt to find out what was inside the locker. This inspired us to rewrite the chapter from another point of view.
We can't wait to find out the story behind the mysterious Jose Angelico!
