Hello I am Mrs Fleming and I am the subject coordinator for Science.

At Hayfield Lane, we recognise the important of Science in every aspect of daily life. As a result of this, our bespoke curriculum is tailored to develop the natural curiosity of the child whilst also providing them with the opportunity to seek answers to enquiry questions through collecting and critically evaluating evidence.

Science at Hayfield lane aims to stimulate, excite and inspire children through meaningful learning experiences. Where possible, we try to ensure that there is a cross-curricular approach to teaching the specific disciplines of Science (biology, chemistry and physics), as we believe that children develop enthusiasm and enjoyment of scientific learning when it is purposeful and contextualised. Our children develop their understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through the five types of scientific enquiry. As a school, we value the importance of revisiting and building on previously taught scientific skills and knowledge as we believe this is paramount for enabling our children to have a secure understanding within the subject.

We endeavour to provide a Science curriculum that will give children the confidence and motivation to continue to further develop their skills into the next stage of their education and life experiences.
