Starlings

Welcome to Starling Class!

A warm welcome to the Summer term!

Our topic for the first part of the term is all about the seaside. It has been lovely to look at the seaside project books that children completed over the Easter break for their homework - a super effort! Our role play has amazingly transformed into a seaside scene with Mr Grinling's lighthouse in the corner! We are looking forward to exploring The Lighthouse Keeper series of books and in particular, to our visit from Warburtons to help us make sandwiches so that we can join Mr Grinling's picnic.

We will continue to develop our depth of understanding in Maths by learning about length and moving on to learning about multiplication and division. We are becoming really confident in looking at relationships between numbers and challenging problems. Thank you to all parents for supporting problem solving homework! We look forward to welcoming you into class so you can see how we learn Maths.

Read Write Inc continues to be popular with the children! Remember to keep up the fantastic support at home by listening to your child's progress in reading at least three times per week. As well as their word-reading ability, remember to invest time into checking your child's understanding by asking questions about the text. Using Bug Club online makes reading together a fun experience. If you need a reminder of your username and password, please call in and see me after school.

Mrs John-Lewis will update this page regularly so watch this space!!

Please look at our curriculum leaflet below to see what we are learning about this half term as well as the websites and games to further your child's learning.
