Marvellous Me

To complete our topic “Marvellous Me”we had a very special visitor a real paramedic came in to our class to speak to us about his job.He told us all about how he looks after people and gets to travels to lots of places to help people. He also let us bandage some arms and legs up as well as bandage our friends up. We also got to try on his special helmet. Our paramedic thought we were good at bandaging and we really enjoyed his visit.

We have also been very busy in all our learning, we have been practicing our balancing skills ,enjoying books looking at Thelma Three ,practicing our sounds . We have had another very busy week.

Different Learning

This week, we have been learning all about the NHS. We looked at a story about Issac who broke his leg and who looked after him at the hospital. We learnt all about Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors, Phlebotomists, Blood Scientists, Nutritionists,Physiotherapists, Porters and people who put plaster casts on. We painted a picture of ourselves and what jobs we would like to do in the NHS. We have really enjoyed learning about all different aspects of the NHS.

This week we also looked at different jobs that grown ups have and at people who help us in their job. We talked about what jobs our grown ups have and what jobs we would like to do when we are older.

We have changed our role play area into a vets, and what excitement it caused we all were very excited to have a turn at making the animals better. We are all enjoying taking care of our animals and know they need lots of tender loving care.

We started the week with the story Formidable Sid and also talked about what pets we had and what pets we would like. We discussed what would make a good pet and which animal would not be a good pet. We all agreed all though we like lions and tigers they would not be good as pets. We painted our pets  and made homes for them , we think our paintings are really good.

What a busy week, as well as being busy in the bungalow we have been making bread like in the story Little Red Hen. We had to knead it very hard. It was a great success and we really enjoyed tasting it.

We were number detectives this week and we all walked round school spotting where numbers were. We found lots of numbers in different places, we also said there were lots of numbers outside school too and we would continue to be number detectives when out and about.

Another busy week in Wren class, we have been looking at who is in our family and how all families are different. We talked about what made our family special and special things we did with our families. We are creating a display with pictures of our families too. We also looked at houses around the world and how they are different to houses that we live in. We made lots of different kinds of houses using lots of resources. We also talked about what makes a special friend, then we drew one of our special friends . In literacy we drew who lived in our house and we are starting to use our phonics to help us write.

Who’s in myFamily

Wren class have also been busy in other areas ,we have enjoyed dressing up as Kings this week, we made some towers in two colours and experienced drawing with chalk. We have been sorting letters out, enjoying jigsaws, reading playing in our small world. We have enjoyed another busy week.

We have saved the bears from the water and sorted them into colours, we have also experimented with powder paints and mixed the colours of some of the crayons as well as experimenting  making colours go from dark to light.We also made some beautiful coloured rainbows with buttons and paper.

This week our book has been ‘ The Day the Crayons Quit’ , every day the crayons sent Wren Class a letter from the crayons. We had to find the letters and then we learnt all about each crayon. We looked for items in our classroom that matched each colour crayon and we have had lots of colourful activities this week.

We also made Colour Monsters with different media and as you can see we are busy with lots of other learning activities.

Other Activities

We have also been looking at the book The Colour Monster goes to School , it’s all about how we are feeling . We then made colour monsters with our play doh. We think they are amazing.

We have been very busy in our first few weeks in Wren class, we have been settling in very well and making friends we also enjoyed a book all about Starting School.
