Wow! What an amazing day we had at the Cool Aeronautics event with our friends at the Vulcan! The children took part in a variety of hands-on activities to introduce them to careers in the aeronautical industry. They received inspirational speeches from the former head of the Air Accident Investigation Bureau and a female engineer (and former Hayfield pupil) who works on the Battle of Britain Memorial Flights. As if that wasn't enough, 6 lucky pupils were given a guided tour of Air Traffic Control, we were able to sit in the cockpit of the Oil Spill Rescue Plane AND we came home with a goodie bag each. All this was free for our children! This inspirational day showed our children the amazing career opportunities on their door step- the sky is the limit! Volunteers and airport staff also commented on our children's enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent behaviour, saying that they were a credit to the school. We are so proud! A huge thank you to everyone at Vulcan to the Sky and the airport who made this day possible.
