Our spelling objectives in Y1 are covered through our RWI program. The children learn to read and spell a mixture of green (phonetically decodeable) words linked to the sounds they are currently being taught and red (common exception) words linked to their current RWI group. These red words can also be found on your child's tricky red word keyring. We have weekly spelling challenges within our RWI sessions as we build these skills.
