Special Days

We had our annual egg rolling competition, where children bring in a boiled egg and try to roll it closest to the finish line!

All children had different techniques, and some were really close!
a big well done to our winners Freddy and Akela!

Today the Easter Bunny visited our classroom, and we were SO EXCITED!

Even more so when he gave us all an Easter egg to take home…we are very excited to get home and eat them all up!

Today we had a very exciting morning as the farm came to school!

We stroked different small animals, and then got to brush and stroke big ones too!
We talked about what different baby animals were called such as chicks, ducklings and kids, and even had a go at ‘milking’ a cow!

What an exciting world book day we had! We all dressed up as our favourite story characters, and had lots of fun sharing our books with each other!
we also had lots of traditional tales to get involved with in the classroom! We told the story of the three billy goats gruff in the puppet theatre, role played Jack and the beanstalk and counted his beans, and built houses for the three little pigs to keep out the big bad wolf!

We all drew who we had come to school dressed as and talked about why we like that character with one another.

We love reading in Sparrows, and this really showed as our love of books shone through on the day - long may it continue!!

To celebrate pancake day, we tried some tasty pancakes! We chose which topping we wanted (chocolate spread, syrup, lemon & sugar or strawberries) and then tasted them - we all thought they were super yummy!
we also practised flipping pancakes, made repeating patterns with toppings on pancakes and used tweezers to put toppings on pretend pancakes to help practise our fine motor skills!

Christmas party day!

I am so proud of Super Sparrows today! We took part in our first CHALLENGE day - 'Greetings cards challenge' - where we practiced our LEADERSHIP, TEAMWORK, STAYING POSITIVE and AIMING HIGH skills through a range of activities, both adult led and independently.
All our lovely Sparrows did so so well and have really upped our collaboration skills (don't be surprised if they come home saying 'teamwork makes the dream work!')

We made team names, designed cards for an occasion agreed upon by the team, thought about our message for inside, and then had a glitter filled afternoon making our creations come to life!!

Alongside this we also tried foods from different festivals and celebrations, created our own party wear, gift wrapped all sorts of objects and role play and crafted the day away.

They all did AMAZING and created some sparkly card creations for a range of occasions!!
