This term we are embarking on our brand new theme of nature detectives!
We will spend the term in nature, looking at mini beasts and heir life cycles. Wren class have tadpoles, and sparrows have caterpillars and we will see how they grow as the weeks go by!
We love exploring nature at the bungalow, and we are hoping to carry this to our indoor and outdoor classrooms too!
In Sparrows we had some caterpillars arrive! They started off really small, then grew and grew and grew! they ate all of the food then made their way to the top to create their chrysalis! They all stayed in for one whole week, then when we came back to school after the weekend they had come out as butterflies!
We put cut up fruit into their net for them to enjoy, then released them into our garden after a few days. We loved seeing them fly off, and waved them goodbye!
As part of our topic we went on a school trip to the butterfly house!
We had talks on mini beasts, and habitats of different creatures around the park.
we really enjoyed exploring the area and looking at different animals, some of us also really liked the squirts information boards, but others not so much!
Throughout out the day we had the opportunity to hold snails, stick insects, cockroaches and butterfly’s and moths as they landed on us in the butterfly house!
To kick start the week we did drawing club around the animation “the race”. As part of this we made mini beasts in lots of different ways! as we start to lead our own learning, we took our own photos of what we created.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
