Our Spelling objectives in Y1 are covered through our Read Write Inc. programme. The children learn to read and spell a mixture of green (phonically decodeable) words linked to the sounds they are currently being taught and red (common exception) words which are found within their current RWI levelled group. We have weekly spelling challenges within our RWI sessions as we build these skills.
