  • Out of this World

This term we will be spreading our net from our planet, to outer space! Starting with our solar system.

We are starting the term with Drawing Club, and our text for the week is 'Whatever Next' by Jill Murphy.

    Our 8 ambitious words are:

We have loved exploring our new space role play and small world areas! We have also been looking at fiction and non fictions space books, revisiting our maths skills learnt so far, and painting the moon and it's craters!

We then looked out to the moon, and thinking about how we would get there! We focused on rockets, looking at rocket launches, the moon landing , which happened in the past, and what a rocket might look like!
We constructed, junk modelled, designed and role played with rockets- and really enjoyed doing so!

We then thought about planets and what else might be in space!
We learnt that there is always an astronaut in space on the International Space Station, and then thought what else there might be!

After all the teachers came as Aliens in Underpants for World Book Day, we thought there might be aliens somewhere in space! We are really enthusiastic about this idea and have got really involved in lots of alien play, activities, and even designing our own aliens to make!

In the last week, we had some visitors to the classroom!

The aliens visited from the moon, and stole all of our spare pants! They did leave us some Easter treats. (Eggs with chicks in) and lots of colourful paper.
We used this to write lots of messages and questions, and left them out for the aliens to see if they came back!
