In Year 2, we build strong mathematical foundations through practical, engaging and meaningful learning. Children will develop their understanding of number and place value, learning to count forwards and backwards in steps of 2, 3, 5 and 10 from 0 and any given number. They learn to read, write and order numbers and develop confidence in understanding the value of each digit.

A key focus is on addition and subtraction, with children developing fluency in number facts to 20 and using these facts to confidently solve problems.
