Spellings are an important part of the Year 2 curriculum. In Year 2, we are continuing to develop our spelling skills and build confidence with common spelling patterns and tricky words. Regular practise at home makes a big difference and helps children to remember new spellings and use them confidently in writing.
Regular phonics practise will also help your child with spelling, reading and writing.
In year 2 spellings are given each week, generally on a Friday. Please encourage your child to practise these spellings using a range of activities such as using the sheets provided by school, using bath crayons, putting some sugar on a plate and letting them write the word in the sugar.
