We were lucky enough to have Sheffield Children's Hospital visit us today to introduce their fundraising challenge for us, which is to raise £950 so that we can then decorate and take part in their special Pride of Yorkshire trial where we get the fabulous opportunity to decorate a lion cub of our own for the trial before keeping it after the event.
Year 6 had a fantastic session with Rock Steady who shared a range of instruments and spoke about the different features of them. Our guest also spoke about the importance of tempo, pitch and chords with different musical styles.
Year 6 had great fun on all of the incredible Christmas rides and activities outside.
Year 6 had great fun taking part in a crime scene investigation by exploring the venue, listening to the testimonies of different suspects and analysing evidence such as fingerprints.
Year 6 looked fantastic in their costumes.
We had the pleasure of welcoming Martin Impey into school to share his fabulous book, 'Blitz - One Family's War'. It was brilliant to hear about his incredibly thorough writing and research process. He reinforced that as a writer and illustrator he makes mistakes throughout the publishing journey and that is why resiliency is a vital attribute to have in life. He blew us away when he drew two of the characters for us in about three minutes whilst taking questions. What a wonderful and informative session.
Years 5 and 6 were delighted to welcome author Bethany Walker into school to share her latest book, 'Medusa Gorgon's Bad Hair Day'. It was great fun hearing about what inspired Bethany to write and how she has taken a well-known character from the past and created something exciting for primary readers. The children and staff loved it.
