We start Y6 with a novel study particularly relevant to your final year in primary school. We will follow Nate's journey as he navigates his final year in his new class without his best friend.

Anti-bullying Session
The school nursing team came in to talk to the children about the importance of having a good mental health and the negative impact that bullying can have on the body, both emotionally and physically.

Year 6 have been investigating how different cams work within mechanisms.
Science
Year 6 investigated the impact of exercise on their heart rate by designing their own scientific experiment.
Design and Technology
Year 6 have explored and researched the design features of different toys, particularly those elements that make them move.

Year 6 have been learning about pioneers within the field of D/T and their impact on society.
Skills Builder
Year 6 were lucky enough to work with people within the financial sector thanks to Skills Builder. We heard about their roles and the key skills that they need to use within these careers.
RE
During RE, Y6 began exploring different Jewish festivals. After summarising three of the festivals, they created their own symbol to represent key themes such as peace, wisdom, kindness, respect etc.
Emotional Well-Being
With Me In Mind came into school to talk to the children about stress and discussed strategies to help them deal with pressures such as exam stress. The children listened carefully and recognised the importance of sharing concerns with others.
Science
In science, the children have been exploring the lifestyles of different characters to explain whether or not they are healthy or unhealthy based on scientific research.
Forest School
Mrs Harris worked with the children outside to create commemorative poppies as a mark of respect for those who fought and died in defence of our country.
Poetry
To mark Remembrance Day and to help the children recognise the importance of it, they have learnt poems based on the events to help reflect on the courage and dedication of those who fought.
RE
Year 6 have been learning about Hinduism and the importance of nature and looking after others within the faith. They created fact files about beliefs and themes within the faith.
Art
Year 6 have enjoyed creating artwork using different shading techniques and pencil types so that they can show depth and texture within their artwork.
