Key information
Start and finish time:
- School starts at 8:55am and children are expected to line up on the playground before this time so that they are ready to walk into school when the bell rings. Miss Ford will be outside from 8:50am each morning to greet you and to address any small queries which you may have.
- Families can enter the school premises at 8:45am. Please ensure that children are NOT being allowed to come onto the school site, alone, before 8:45. They are unsupervised and this is a safeguarding/ health and safety issue.
- School finishes at 15:30 and children will be let out of the classroom door on the bell.
PE days:
- PE day is every Thursdays. Children are encouraged to bring their PE kits to school at the start of the week. Please note that it will be Scotty who leads this session but this IS NOT a Scotty Heroes session as he will be following the PE curriculum.
- Children will need to wear black/navy shorts or sports trousers, a white t-shirt and long-sleeved jumpers are advised for outdoor PE.
- Children with long hair must have it tied back and earrings need to be taken out or covered with a plaster.
- If for any reason your child cannot take part in PE, can you please send your child with a note to let their teacher know.
Extra information:
- Children are able and should bring a water bottle to school.
- The school does not provide children in year 3 with milk or snacks. If you would like your child to have milk then please arrange this with the school office. You may provide your child with a healthy snack (nothing containing nuts) if you wish to do so.
- A reading book will be given to your child to take home and they are able to change this on a Monday. It is also recommended that your child reads online using Bug Club as they are able to access all books on there. We recommend that your child reads at least 5 times a week and that an adult signs their planner to show when they have read. Reading on Bug Club will count towards the 5 reads per week but please document this in your child's planner.
- A Reading Passport book has also been given to your child. This book can also be changed on a Monday. The purpose of this book is to spark children's love of reading as they are able to choose a book that they are interested in. The book can be read to them by an adult and therefore doesn't have to be at their reading level.
- Your child has been given passwords for Bug Club, Times table Rockstars and Numbots. Please access these at home. Certificates for these will be handed out in Golden Book assemblies on a Friday.
Gold Book Assembly:
If your child has been chosen to be in the Gold Book assembly, we warmly welcome family members to join us for the celebrations. Our celebration assembly takes place every Friday at 9:05am and we kindly ask that visitors enter through the main reception to sign in.
Each week, we focus on one of our ‘Hayfield Lane Super Eight Skills’ and children who have shown excellent effort, progress, or attitude towards that skill are chosen to be entered into the Gold Book. During the assembly, their achievements are celebrated, certificates are awarded, and we all take a moment to recognise the hard work and positive contributions of our pupils. It’s a special time for the children as we come together to celebrate their success.
