We kicked off the new term by looking at the book 'Poles Apart.' We learnt about the polar bears in the North Pole and the penguins in the South Pole. In the book, the penguins get lost and end up in the South Pole. Mr White (the polar bear) guides them home and they travel through lots of different countries to get there. We will be learning lots about some of these countries this term and we are very excited about our adventures.
Our journey then took us to India. We've learnt all about the climate in India and the animals that live there. We've loved learning about the Taj Mahal and used our construction skills to build it. We even found it on the map! We've compared the Indian Flag to the Union Jack and learnt lots of facts about tigers 🐅.
We finished off the week with a food tasting session. We tried a few different Indian foods including rice, popadoms, naan bread and mango. We thought they were really tasty and we wrote a sentence about our favourite.
This week has been a 'Drawing Club' week and we have been reading the book 'Dinosaurs Don't Draw.' We have been imagining what we would like to find in the magical cave (Mrs Nottage wanted it to be filled with boxes of chocolates.) We also created a way to scare away the T-Rex and invented interesting objects to draw with. Inside, we have been creating dinosaur worlds and outside, we've been making jeeps to go on a dinosaur safari and magical caves where the dinosaurs live. We've been digging for dinosaur bones and carefully walking on the bridge over the volcano.
This week we have continued our dinosaur theme in preparation for our visit to the museum on Tuesday. We have leant about the job of a palaeontologists, and had a go at finding our own dinosaur bones and fossils in the sand. We have learnt all about fossils and even made our own. Look at our fanatic dinosaur feet!
