    science

In our science, we are using the vocabulary of filtering, sieving, decanting and other separation methods to separate a mixture into its parts. We discussed how evaporation and condensation works and how this linked to our Year 4 learning about the water cycle.

Dance inspired by Harry Potter Studios.

In dance, we work in small groups to use motifs and shapes like circles to create short performances which we then practise and perform.

    Warner Bros Studios Tour

As part of our immersion into the magical world of Harry Potter, we visited the Harry Potter Studios and took part in a Foley lesson - the magic of sound effects in movies. Then we saw all of our favourite characters, sets and costumes in real life!

On Wednesday our class went to the Harry Potter studios near London. We saw the forbidden forest, Weasleys joke shop and much more. The best parts were the train, Privet drive and Diagon Ally. We all had a great day even though the travelling was tough at times and did take roughly 4 hours to get there.

I'm glad that Hayfield lane allows us to have this experience which will stay with us forever!!  by a Year 5 pupil.

    Our Hogwarts Science day

On our Hogwart's Science Day we look at the magic of science. Our lessons are very practical and we make icecream to see the changes of matter in a reversible experiment. Then we make a chocolate mug cake to look at irreversible changes in states of matter. We observe the changes in Coke when Mentos are dropped in and we add bicarbonate of soda to vinegar to see what happens.
