Our Robin Hood themed day!
For our Robin Hood Day, we had a fantastic time bringing our learning to life! We dressed up as Robin Hood and learnt about the story and legend behind him.
We headed outdoors to make our own bows and arrows using sticks, before putting them to the test with our very own archery activity. We also took part in orienteering, using what we had learnt to help us complete the challenges.
We even included some Geography, using maps to locate Sherwood Forest and discovering where the famous Major Oak can be found.
It was a brilliant day of hands-on learning, combining History, Geography, outdoor skills, creativity and teamwork while exploring the legend of Robin Hood.
We have been learning all about plants, including the different parts of a plant and what plants need to survive. Alongside this, we have been discovering the importance of the Major Oak and why this incredible tree is so special.
We have now started to bring all of our learning together to write a non-chronological report all about the Major Oak. We have been using our knowledge of plants, as well as the fascinating facts we have discovered, to create informative and interesting non-chronological reports. Miss Ford is so proud of all the fantastic hard work so far!
We went on a walk around our local area of Auckley to investigate how human geography has affected our village. During our walk, we looked at how people have changed the environment by building houses, roads, shops and other facilities.
